Planning your scuba adventure to Layang Layang? Here are answers to the most common questions about dive conditions, travel logistics, safety, marine life, and more so you can dive in with confidence.

Layang Layang is a remote coral atoll located over 300km northwest of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. It is part of the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea and is only accessible by private catamaran or charter flight.

The best season for Layang Layang diving is from late March to late May, when sea conditions are calm, visibility reaches up to 50 meters, and hammerhead sharks are most active.

Layang Layang is recommended for divers with Advanced Open Water certification or higher. Due to deep wall dives and strong currents, beginner divers may find conditions challenging.

You’ll enjoy 2 to 3 dives daily, depending on sea conditions and your energy levels. Optional third dives or sunset sessions may be added for experienced divers.

Expect encounters with schooling hammerheads, barracuda tornadoes, dogtooth tuna, giant trevallies, reef sharks, and macro life like pygmy seahorses and nudibranchs.

Yes, full dive equipment is available for rent, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, and dive computers. Please request gear during booking to ensure availability.
